College Board is committed to support college readiness and success for students by developing a redesign for the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT®). The redesigned SAT® will ask students to apply multi-layered understanding of content areas that focus on college and career readiness. The best preparation for the redesigned SAT® is a schedule that includes rigorous coursework.
The SAT® redesign is grounded on eight key changes:
The first administration of the redesigned SAT® will be March 2016; however, the first administration redesigned PSAT® will be in October 2015. Seven of the eight key changes will impact the redesigned PSAT® (there is no essay on the PSAT®) Every HCPSS sophomore and junior is automatically registered to participate in the PSAT®/NMSQT® at their home school in October 2015. HCPSS provides all students the academic opportunities needed to prepare them for college and beyond. Participation in the PSAT® is an important step in preparing for college.
In June 2015, Khan Academy partnered with College Board to release interactive practice programs to support students as they familiarize themselves with the redesigned exam. The customized test preparation offers skill based videos to support the redesigned key changes for students who will take the PSAT®/NMSQT® in October 2015.
For additional information regarding the eight key changes to the SAT®, to view sample questions, Khan Academy test preparation availability, and sign up for updates, parents and students are encouraged to visit the College Board site at www.deliveringopportunity.org.
